Plants and compost – information supplied by Green the Grid

Lots of neighbours have been in touch asking about the best places to buy compost, plants and seeds during this period.  The good news is that garden centres are now open, including our local – Neals in Wandsworth, https://www.capitalgardens.co.uk/store-locations/neals-nurseries-garden-centre/   Local DIY shops who sell plants are also open like Homebase and B & Q.

For those who are unable or would rather not go to the shops we have compiled a list of places delivering, which we hope helps you out.

COMPOST: We have spoken to Sam at Blooms Florist, Replingham Road.  They have a selection of plants suitable for tree pits & gardens.  You can call them for a click + collect service to reserve compost and plants on 020 8874 5559.

PLANTS: These online garden centres are delivering but plant deliveries are taking longer than usual.  https://www.crocus.co.uk and https://www.sarahraven.com

Here is a company who save plants from garden centres and nurseries hit by COVID-19 and deliver them to your door https://plantsavers.co.uk/

The Horticultural Trades Association has put together this searchable and regularly updated list of stockists to help you locate plants and garden supplies near you

The Lockdown Gardener works with nurseries in Sussex to deliver bedding plants and vegetables to central London including SW18

Please share any tips you have about other places people could get plants from.  If you have any spare plants why not swap them with neighbours?

Happy Gardening!
