Swim Wimbledon – Summer 2019 Presentation

A group of local residents across Southfields and Wimbledon Park called “Swim Wimbledon” have launched a campaign to allow open water swimming in the Wimbledon Park Lake.

The Park was designed by revered engineer Capability Brown in 1765, including building a dam across the valley to convert a marshy stream into a 9-hectare lake. Merton Council are required to carry out improvement works by January 2022, and Swim Wimbledon say with a little extra thought these could include planning and preparation to make the lake ready and safe for swimming.

Here’s some more detail about their campaign, which you can join up at www.swimwimbledon.co.uk
