We received today the following update from SGN regarding the ongoing gas works. The key points of note are:
- Wimbledon Park Road is now open for usage, as gas repair works have completed
- pipe replacement works in Augustus Road to begin week commencing 12 November for approximately six weeks
- No works are planned over the holiday period

Wednesday 7 November – Wimbledon Park Road and Augustus Road, Southfields – UPDATE
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding our gas network upgrade in Wimbledon Park Road and Augustus Road.
We’ve managed to complete our repair work in Wimbledon Park Road enabling us to safely reopen the road to motorists.
In consultation with Wandsworth Council, our work in Augustus road will start week commencing 12 November and will last approximately six weeks.
We’ll be working in Augustus Road between its junctions with Albert Drive and Wimbledon Park Road. To ensure everyone’s safety around our work area, we’ll need to close the westbound lane of Augustus Road between these junctions. A signed diversion route via Albert Drive, Victoria Drive and Wimbledon Park Road for motorists.
We’ll also need to suspend some parking bays on Augustus Road to enable our engineers to dig safely.
We’re continuing to liaise with Wandsworth Council about further upgrades to our gas network along Augustus Road in 2019. The planning process is ongoing, and we’ll provide updates when details are confirmed.
We understand that roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Southfields residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
