We’re continuing to carry out urgent work and upgrades to our gas network in the Wimbledon Park Road area of Southfields.
We’ve managed to complete our repair work in Replingham Road enabling us to safely reopen the road to motorists. Earlier this week, we coordinated with Wandsworth Council and Thames Water to allow a water pipe to be repaired before we completed road resurfacing, ensuring that future disruption to residents and businesses was avoided.
Following the completion of our work in Replingham Road, our engineers have moved to Wimbledon Park Road to begin permanent repairs on a nearby gas main where a leak was discovered last week. This is located just south of our existing site in Wimbledon Park Road where our engineers have been working to replace a section of old gas mains with new plastic pipe.
To ensure everyone’s safety around our current work area, we’ve closed Wimbledon Park Road between its junctions with Augustus Road and Gartmoor Gardens. A signed diversion via Augustus Road, Albert Drive and Victoria Drive is in place for motorists and buses.
The temporary traffic lights at Wimbledon Park Road’s junction with Augustus Road have now been removed and the existing traffic lights are now operational once more.
We’ll keep you updated on our progress
